– The Sovereignty of God –
Introduction: Why do so many people struggle over free will in salvation when thinking of the sovereignty of God? We can admit our ignorance but we must refuse to deny clear biblical truths.
Salvation & the Sovereignty of God
“None seeks for God” (Rom 3:11).
God chooses ahead of time those who will be saved.
“He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world” (Eph 1:4 ) => Bible study questions
“Mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God” (Rom 8:7). Ephesians 2:1-3.
“Born of the Spirit” (John 3:8). God brings about new life.
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Mat 4:17).
Man can actively place his faith in Christ, “Many more believed because of His word” (John 4:41). => Election and salvation

Both God and man are involved in salvation. Man, however, cannot save himself. God so works in man’s heart that he is able and desirous of believing upon Christ. Without this work, he would not choose God.
