Purpose: Our goal is to understand God's goodness and learn how to properly respond to His goodness.
God is always good. This is His nature. When we question our Lord’s goodness due to personal difficulties or blatant evil around us, then we are humming the evil one’s tune. Instead, trust in God’s goodness, and your heart will not be troubled.

God is knowable, not just in a general sense of knowing things about God, but through Jesus Christ we can have a personal relationship with Him.
We all ask these two life questions at some point in life, "Who are we?" and "Why am I here?" We take these questions and discuss how our personal relationship with God answers both of these questions! This serves as review of previous lessons and to begin to think about this lesson on the Goodness of God.
Genesis 1 clearly shows us how God wants us to rightly understand Him to be a good God. This study begins the first major section on the Goodness of God.
When we look at the Psalms and other Bible passages, we will find hundreds of references to God's goodness and blessing. This study continues focusing on the topic: The Goodness of God.
In this study we show how the world's view of self-esteem provides little help compared to understanding and believing in the goodness of God.
God is good, but it just doesn't look like it, at least some of the time. Why? Isaiah 5:20 shows how good has been hijacked and perverted into evil.
In Genesis 3:1-6 we discover Satan's clever means of tempting Adam and Eve to doubt God's goodness and believe in another better good.
How are people going to understand God's goodness when so many things are going wrong? I frankly share from my personal experiences working closely with people in Africa, India and other areas where they face many serious daily problems. We get to see how they handle such crises.
Understanding God's goodness plays a key role in undestanding God Himself. God's goodness plays a key part in other attributes of God.
Psalm 31:19 and Other Scriptures on God's Goodness
The key to a powerful Christian life is partially found in deeply believing in God's goodness. God's goodness is not just a doctrine, but a means which helps us trust God when things are not going well as Psalm 31:19, Romans 8:28 and other verses demonstrate.
Worldviews: How should we involve ourselves in this world?
Our understanding or lack of understanding of God's goodness greatly shapes how we get involved in the needs of this world. Notice how the Biblical (Christian) worldview compares to the Hindu, Islam, modern secularist, religious worldviews. This is where we see the greatness of God in our lives.
Good, Evil and God
Because of evil, people have a hard time comprending God's goodness. We present and simply answers some of these complex questions on good and evil so that we can get beyond this issue to believing in and delighting in God's goodness.
Study questions and projects enable us to rethink through all that we have been learning about the goodness of God and apply this knowledge to our lives.
There are three main sections of The Goodness of God. We will proceed study by study guided by the outline below.
