The Power of Knowing God’s Goodness

Purpose: Understanding God's goodness plays a key role in undestanding God Himself. God's goodness plays a key part in other attributes of God.

This begins the third main section of The Goodness of God.

Although the evil one’s cleverness is certainly not to be undermined, God’s people can surge forward in an increasing trust in God’s goodness. This will be their best protection: Don’t contemplate the distractions that are put in front them. They do not offer anything better.

God’s glorious goodness

God introduced His goodness along with His power in Genesis 1. He kindly brought hope to our lives that the powers beyond were not going to expose our weakness from some other motivation. God would see to it that His treatment of human beings would be an extension of His goodness.

A thorough understanding of the scriptures will enable us to gain a much greater appreciation of God’s goodness. Nothing but goodness can come from God - there really is no room to question His goodness.

God's Goodness and other attributes

The scriptures are everywhere highlighted, for example, with characteristics or attributes of God that are related to His goodness.

• God’s mercy

God extends His goodness to those who are weak, vulnerable and helpless.

• God’s patience

God kindly waits for our right responses even during our poor choices.

• God’s grace

God richly pours out kind treatment going far beyond anything that we on our own deserve, no matter what standard we use.

• God’s faithfulness

God constantly and persistently seeks to bring His goodness into our lives.

• God’s love

God persistently pledges to bring His goodness to those He commits Himself to.

Many scripture verses inspire us to think greater of and to fully embrace God’s goodness. These themselves become a means by which we can personally experience the power of God’s goodness in our lives.
