A slight acquaintance of knowledge develops arrogance. True knowledge of truth always humbles one's heart.
Truth reveals our failures while pride deceives us from understanding the true depravity of our sin.
Sermon on the Mount (Mat 5:3-4)
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
Repentance is the proper response when discovering
our waywardness.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
Fools despise wisdom and instruction" (Proverbs 1:7).
What do you say or pray?
Simply tell the Lord how you have failed Him and need forgiveness through the Lord Jesus. Then ask for strength to love Him and follow all His ways.
Application

What kind of believers are we if we think that we were never really that bad or that God's truth is something we just add to our existing lives and beliefs?
