Repent and Believe

Capturing Every Thought

Overcome Anxiety: Finding Peace, Discovering God - a bookWe need to spend time on how we capture every thought to Christ's obedience. It is only by this we can effectively overcome anxiety. Remember 2 Corinthians 10:5 gave us two main points. We have covered point one in detail over the last slides.

Part 1
We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and

Part 2
We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, (2 Corinthians 10:5,).

We can detect lies perhaps, but unless we take every thought captive to what pleases our Lord, then we will miserably fail.

Repent and believe identify the two special areas of needs. They are similar but with different foci. The way we destruct lies is to bring the truth upon our lies. When we do this we admit the ways we were seeking our own solutions is wrong and never truly satisfying. We are broken, or as a friend recently said to me 'shattered.'

We do not merely create an empty spot but fill it. This is the area of belief. We assert the truth. This can be illustrated when a country fights another and the government is destroyed. Unless they plan on taking up the rulership, they need to find another ruling system or chaos rules.

REPENT AND BELIEVE

"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel." (Mark 1:15).

Repent

Believe

Destroy our living by falsehood

Capturing our thoughts

Confession of all of our means of solving our heart concerns is the sin of self-reliance. We have sinned by caring for ourselves in areas that the Lord has made us to depend upon Him.

Belief and obedience in the truth of the Lord Jesus Christ. We need to totally transform what we believe and do by meditating in God’s Word.

Can we truly admit that we have disobeyed God by worrying. Jesus said, "Stop worrying." He knows we have pursued things on our own. We need to repent from this. From this, we want to trust God. We need His guidance and strength. We need a greater faith.
