Step #2 Utilize God’s Blessing (Genesis 14:11-16)
God firstly trains us by pointing out how He has so richly blessed us that our faith is strengthened and our hearts can affirm His goodness. God secondly trains us by giving us opportunity to serve Him. This is uniquely described here in Genesis 14:11-16 and integrated with those things that happen in our lives.
Abram provides a powerful example here to learn from, one that might at first seem very distant from our own circumstance, but later will see its relevancy to our circumstances. How we respond to these circumstances allows us to shape the world around us as God did through Abram.
Abram was not being attacked or provoked in any way. He was comfortable. He was blessed with God’s protection.
This is just the beginning of the training, however.

God made sure Abraham heard the morning news through this certain escapee which brought back news about the whole affair to Abraham the Hebrew, very similar to the report that Nehemiah received (Nehemiah 1 => Go).
Abram’s nephew was captured along with his family and belongings.
This is just a sample of the great amount of materials found in the book: Genesis: The Book of Foundations. Only some of our Genesis materials have been put on the web.
Or better yet, for a little bit more get the Old Testament Library which has this book along with powerpoints, videos and hundreds of other articles, all presented with understanding and applying God's Word to our lives. Great deal!
