Walking With Jesus - Abiding in Christ | Description and Purchase
Purpose: Abiding in Jesus Christ small group or family questions are designed to lead a group through abiding in Christ. We might be familar with personal leading but many are aware how we can lead a group closer to the Lord in intimacy.
Someone asked, “How does the idea of “lifting up” a branch apply to a cell group that’s not bearing fruit? How do I do this as a cell leader?” Try going through this series of questions.
What might ‘bearing fruit’ mean in the context of the small group?
Has anyone experienced that kind of fruit either personally or as a group of Christians. (Some might have unconsciously seen this happen - if they bear fruit, something right is happening). Have them share their experience.
Does our group bear fruit? If not, what category does that place us in (from John 15:2 there are two kinds of groups)?
If so, what kind of fruit do we see that comes or is coming from our group?
The leaders should already be meeting/prayer together seeking God on the kind of fruit that God wants to bear through them as a group of God’s people. Their prayers should be answered during group discussions and prayer times.
If one proceeds without this common focus, then the evil one can easily use this division of focus (e.g. People do not want to be committed). Consistency of abiding and seeking the Lord together is important to bear fruit so that the Lord is glorified.
As the leader is able to lead the group into such times with the Lord and His Word, then they are more aware of what the Holy Spirit wants to do through the group.
What kind of fruit do we need the most or what two kinds of fruit should seek the Lord for?
Why do we want these kinds of fruit?
What conditions do we as God’s people need to meet before seeing this fruit?
