True Security from Anxiety

Genuine security is founded on two principles.

Constancy

The word ‘everlasting’ carries with it the meaning of unchanging, permanence, unyielding, uncompromising, eternal, and constant.

If the guard is down for a moment, then security has lost its meaning. Something is only as strong as its weakest point. The Center for Disease in Atlanta failed in its performance on a critical day in the anthrax investigation because old wires caused a fire.

Protection

The image of a ‘Rock’ is one of firmness, hardness, solidness, and is without challenge. We are not speaking of a real rock but using it only as an illustration for the Lord. "For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock." A good illustration is the way the Taliban armies tunneled deep into the mountains to find protective hide–a–ways from American high-tech bombs.

Many people live in secure homes, but their hearts are troubled with some issue. They are rattled every time the issue comes up again. Worries can penetrate big bank accounts, nice housing, loaded refrigerator, fancy car and high positions.

Only in the Lord do we have true security. True security is known for true protection that goes on and on. God’s promise is to protect all of His people. The New Covenant sealed by Christ's blood is an eternal covenant. Our belief in Christ's death for our sins on the cross is significant because from that point on we are God's dear children.

The steadfast of mind Thou wilt keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in Thee. Trust in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock. (Isaiah 26:3-4).

What are we going to do when we hear that the terrorists now have nuclear weapons and desire to use them? They were to protect us and now they can be used against us!

Let me share a story that shows what peace God can give to a person who depends on Him.

A father took his daughter to church one Sunday and along the way stopped to get gas. A man asked for help to get his car jump started up the road. The man agreed, but not too far up the road the man pulled out a gun. He demanded all his money, or otherwise he would shoot him. The father gave him what he thought was all his money. But the gunman saw a bill sticking out of his Gideon Bible in the car that he used to pass out to people. The gunman screamed out demanding all the money.

The father all of a sudden, realizing the evil, started praying aloud,

"Father in heaven, hear my cry and deliver me from this present evil ...."

As he prayed, he lost all consciousness of concern and worry and turned the car around. The man stunned, demanded to know what was happening. The driver explained he was no longer taking orders from him. The robber threatened to pull the trigger. But the Dad quoted scripture, "Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world. My Jesus is stronger than your gun."

The man started to pull the trigger but the father simply pulled the car to the side and shared about Jesus with him. As they got back to th station, the driver asked for all the money back, and the man with tears in his eyes left with a revolver in one hand and a Bible in another.

A security system is good only if you are within its shield! Are you for sure you are within the shield?
