From Psalm 139 we discover that God that He has a special design for each human being. Come with me now and let us explore how God in eternity plans for us in time. God’s special design for our lives required three major items. The first is below: namely, we are created by the hand of God.
“For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother's womb.” (139:13)
We are not accidents upon this planet. We are of God’s design. Our life doesn’t begin outside the womb where we begin to interact with the world as Skinner would teach. But God says He has formed us. We are designed by God in the womb. The word ‘weave’ rightly takes into account all the many factors in making a person from many varied resources.
God is forming us states both His ownership (He is the creator) and ‘weaving’ speaks of His artisanship expressed early on in the mother’s womb. All our discoveries of genes only reemphasize that all the major decisions about our bodies have been made when we were still in our mother’s womb.
Application
• Medical ethics need to be firm here in both the respect of the unborn child but also as it says the womb as to be the place for the culturing.
• If created, then we must categorically deny our excuses to live by our ways rather than God’s ways. If we choose ‘another’ way, then we should see it clearly as rebellion rather than just another choice.
• Positively, we should regularly confess as David did here that God is our Maker and that we belong to Him. We should follow this up with an affirmation of our willingness to obey and trust Him.
Eg. Morning prayer, “Good morning my Lord, my Maker, my Owner. Let me be a willing vessel to playing the part well what you have given me to do today. I belong to you. I have no other purpose than to glorify you. Amen.” Application
