“Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me His prisoner; but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, 10 but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher” (2 Timothy 1:8-11 NASB).

Everyone is called to serve the Lord. Because of His Lordship we are responsible to give our Maker our attentive service. Salvation lifts us up into God’s sphere of grace, enabling us through Christ find forgiveness, reconciliation and empowerment through the Spirit to properly serve Him.
Timothy is simply an example for us to learn from. He is different from us and yet there are many similarities in the way God equips us as well as the ways the evil one tries to interfere with God’s work in our lives.
In Timothy’s case we find a worker of the Lord that is hampered by timidity and fear, but Paul his mentor, takes steps to help him understand, identify, solve and prevent the problem of crippling fear.
