Running the Race for Sexual Purity

The Big Race

Purpose: Crossing the Line! gives us an update where we are going in this strategic race to overcome sexual lusts and find sexual purity.

Going places can be exciting!

In this third section we will discuss where the race ends up. We will try to answer the questions,

• "What does it mean to be sexually pure?"
  

But perhaps even more important are the questions,

• "Why did God design us this way?"
  
• "Why did He say, each part of us including our sexual aspects are 'very good?'"
  

I have found that the more excited I am about where I am going, the more fun the trip is.

Every race has a starting line, a finish line and some basic rules. Some basic rules that do not need to be said include the need for everyone to start at the starting line and pass the finish line.

After hearing my cousin finishing the 26 mile–long Boston marathon, my daughter said she could beat everyone. We all wondered what she meant. She is not a runner. Her special rule was that she was placed 5 minutes before the finish line! Our whole family laughed. We all knew she was jesting. In real life no one can win if they start ahead of the others.

This battle with sexual lusts is the same. We would love some magic formula that all of a sudden cuts us clean from that whole painful lifestyle and restore us to a wholesome one! But there is no magic.

However, there are a lot of amazing helps. This is where we fit in. We hope that through the unveiling of God's truth on these particular matters, we will all cross that finish line of sexual purity together. We need to reclaim the lost control of our lives. Through God's power and love we can do it!
