CELL GROUPS
“And there arose also a dispute among them as to which one of them was regarded to be greatest.  And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who have authority over them are called 'Benefactors.' Serve

exampleBut not so with you, but let him who is the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as the servant. For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table, or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.”
Luke 22:24-27, NASB

A most important task is to maintain a loving and trusting environment between each member (including yourself!) and between each member and the Lord.

The Leaders’ Special Role and Responsibility

Each group needs a proven and humble leader as well as a faithful assistant.  The assistant is being trained for future service.  Christian leaders are servants of God focusing God’s people on God and His will. God’s people are wise when they can respect those God has put over them.

The Leaders’ Special Responsibilities

• A Humble Model
Each leader is an humble example of Jesus Christ. Daily devotions is essential. Remember as a leader you become a special target of the evil one. Perfection is not required but a willingness to yield to the Holy Spirit.

• A Prayer Intercessor
Each leader must learn to pray for himself and for each one in the group.

• A Lover of God and His Word
Each leader must increasingly depend on God and His Word.  From this love of God, comes forth one’s own special time with the Lord as well as an eagerness to learn and teach the Word of God.

• An Organizer
Organization is not a major focus, but the assistant leader should maintain prayer lists, location as to where to meet and children helpers if needed.

• Concerned for others
Each leader must practically work out God’s love in the lives of others.  Their lives must be important to him.  This will be emphasized in the way he leads the group to think, pray and outreach to the lost.

Is it appropriate to invite non-Christians to your cell group?

There is question as to whether one should invite non-Christians to one’s cell group. This can be left up to each group. But what is urgent is the need for all the members praying others into full membership of the cell group!
