Many people struggle with being unwanted. As the family structure deteriorates, self-hate grows. By experiencing rejection from busy parents, they question if they have any real value. Without love, they do not know how to love. They feel ‘in the way.’
No matter how much we feel rejected by others, God’s family is very different. God genuinely cares for us. His love is announced, proved and deliberate. “He chose us in Him (Christ) before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him” (Ephesians 1:4).
God mentions His special choice of us throughout the scriptures. His choice for us reveals His special attention and favor. “Yet on your fathers did the LORD set His affection to love them, and He chose their descendants after them, even you above all peoples...” . (Deuteronomy 10:15).
We know God loves us by the way He sent Jesus Christ, His One and only Son, to die and pay for our guilt. The righteous died for us the unrighteous. As we allow this truth to touch our hearts, we are greatly humbled and overwhelmed as to why God would choose us to be His forever.
