Dramatic still silence follows the opening of the seventh seal (8:1) and becomes the context and trigger for the 7 angels and trumpets introduced in chapters 8-11, bringing warnings of impending doom.

Each sequential trumpet sound succeeds the previous, causing one catastrophe after another leading into the full expression of God’s judgment, reminding us of the compounding effect and results of the ten plagues on Egypt.

“And when He broke the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour” (Rev 8:1).

Summary:
Each major catastrophe including draughts, famines, typhoons, war, earthquakes, bomb explosions, environmental disasters–all ultimately point toward the sounding blasts released before Christ’s return which like birth pangs will come with increasing frequency and pain (Mat 24:8; Mk 13:8; 1 Th 5:3).

God's patience gives further evidence of the arrogance of unrepentant sinful mankind deserving full judgment. But our chief focus is continually brought back to God’s care for the saints. They will be cared for though calamities strike.
