Races are fun to watch and join in if you are in shape! But what happens when you are not in good shape and are found to be in a race?

Runners in a raceBy default we are in a race for sexual purity. God, our family, and the world are our onlookers. Victory means life, but stepping out of the race means death. The consequences are eternal.

The image of a race helps us in several ways:

A runner dashing forwardOne of the first facts we must understand is that the race is not yet over. No matter how many mistakes we have made or how many people’s lives we have fouled up, we can step back into that race and go on. There are two things that disqualify us from winning this race:

So if you can read this, then you can start running again in that race which God has signed you up for—a race for sexual purity. You can run it. You can win it. You might be ashamed of your past like I am. That is unchangeable. But we need not be ashamed of the future! God has made a way for you and me to run steady to the end.
