Initial Observations

  1. Read Acts 1:1-11. Who is the author of this book (compare with Luke 1:1-4)?
  2. To whom is the book addressed? What does his name mean ("Lover of God")?
  3. What was the "first account" composed about? (Acts 1:1)

The Forty Days (Acts 1:3-5)

  1. How long did Jesus stay with the disciples after His resurrection?
  2. What was the primary topic of His teaching during this period?
  3. What specific command did He give them regarding Jerusalem?

The Kingdom and the Spirit (Acts 1:6-8)

  1. What question did the disciples ask in verse 6? Why were they focused on this?
  2. How did Jesus redirect their focus in verses 7 and 8?
  3. According to verse 8, what is the source of power for the mission, and what is the geographical progression of their witnessing?

The Ascension (Acts 1:9-11)

  1. Describe what happened in verse 9.
  2. What was the message of the "two men in white clothing"?
  3. How does the promise of His return impact how we live and witness today?
