Genesis 5 — The Bible Teaching Commentary
Genesis 5 Patriarchal Chart
Paul J. Bucknell
Purpose: Genesis 5 Patriarchal Chart shows the comparative ages of the patriarchs ranging from Adam to the period of the Flood. In particular, one can find the chronological relationships among different men, such as Adam, Seth, Enosh, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, and Noah. There is no reason to question the dates and years given in Genesis 5, because the author was painstakingly presenting a system in which the dates cannot be confused (though some still claim otherwise)).

"And Enoch lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Methuselah. Then Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he became the father of Methuselah, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. And Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and became the father of Lamech." (Genesis 5:21-25, NASB).

A Good Research Resource
Jeremy Sexton has video discussion on " excellent scholarly research on the syntactical and exegetical features of Genesis 5 and 11, demonstrating that the genealogies yield a continuous chronology from Adam to Abraham. “Who Was Born When Enosh Was 90?”"
Jeremy Sexton's article,“Evangelicalism’s Search for Chronological Gaps in Genesis 5 and 11: A Historical, Hermeneutical, and Linguistic Critique,” Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society 61, no. 1 (2018): 5–25.He argues that though we cannot be sure of a thorough genealogical lineage, there is no reason not to believe that, it does assert that there is an accurate chronological genealogy.
