Genesis 3:7-13 – Bible Study Questions

7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. 8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of Thee in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 And the man said, “The woman whom Thou gavest to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” (Genesis 3:7-13, NASB).

Discussion questions on Genesis 3:7-13

How would you characterize God’s confrontation with Adam and Eve? Is it what you would expect? Why do parents often raise their tempers when confronting their children? Is it proper? Why is God’s way better?

Man often plays the blame game? When does he play it? Why? When was the last time you blamed another for your fault? How can we change such devious and irresponsible behavior?

How is your relationship affected when you disobey God? Why is this? Do you think God is looking for you or just wants to isolate Himself from you? How long does it take for you to come back to Him?

What should we think about nudity? Is the nakedness here related to the way we should think about nudity? Is it wrong to sit in a spa with your family all naked? Why?

How did Adam and Eve cover their loins? What did God do in Genesis 3:21? Where did they get the skins? What is this evidence of? Discuss how this symbolizes how God’s people need a covering for their sin through the death of Jesus Christ.
