Influence of
Truth on Society

Truth Reigns Supreme

God's laws work no matter where they operate. Just as the light shines on the wicked and the righteous, so no matter what race or religion a person holds, they shall prosper to the degree they observe God's truths.

Confucianism has brought great blessing to the Chinese society because of the children's respect to the parents, of wife to husband, and of people to rulers. We cannot say they had the whole truth, but their former glory was significant and length of their government structure testified to this. Some think the key element was the governing style of the dynastic emperors but this was not true. They were corrupt too. The educational system had a large part in perpetuating these truths.

The true picture of what a family holds is shown by what they do rather than what they verbally teach. What is taught is often not the same as what is done.

Societies reflect different biblical truths to different degrees. They are blessed to the degree that they live by them. We must understand this does not mean that the culture is good. Much evil is wrapped up with the few truths that they reflect.

Another example of the influence of truth in a society is of rule by law such as is in today's democratic countries. Up until recently, there were laws that kept the nation living righteously. Now laws are changing to incorporate immoral activities. A nation follows its practice of justice. If righteous laws are substituted for unrighteous ones, then that nation will soon be buried in judgment.

It might seem to be an exaggeration that the well being of a society depends upon the way it upholds marriage and the family, but it is not. Basic values are instilled into the society through the family. Today, China which has essentially dissolved the family is rapidly deteriorating. Other nations adopting the materialistic values also are destroying the base for the family. They all are taking strides into the direction of poverty and recklessness.

Society and culture should be
built on the truth

Society and culture should be
built on the truth.

"Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. “For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass away from the Law, until all is accomplished." (Matthew 5:17,18).

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts upon them, may be compared to a wise man, who built his house upon the rock. “And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. “And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act upon them, will be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. “And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and it fell, and great was its fall." (Matthew 7:24-27).

All societies to some degree are founded on the truth. Take away truth and the culture suffers.
We must no longer be those who talk about being God's people alone but those who discern and do the the will of God!

When
truth suffers,
so does the society,
so do the people.
